Gary Thomas is an experienced football coach currently serving as the Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator of the Southwest Kansas Storm in Arena Football One. He returned to coaching after a five-year hiatus to lead the Storm, guiding the team into competitive seasons and playoff contention in the indoor arena league.
Prior to his arena coaching role, Thomas built a successful career in collegiate football. He spent six seasons as Head Football Coach at Dodge City Community College, where he helped transform a struggling program into one of the most competitive in the region. His team captured the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference championship, earned multiple national rankings, and produced several All-Americans and professional players. Thomas was named Jayhawk Conference Coach of the Year twice during his tenure.
Gary has produced over 100 D1 Players while sending over 30 player to the NFL.
Thomas began his coaching career soon after his playing days, holding positions at West Texas A&M (his alma mater), Adams State, Western State, and the College of DuPage, where he served as offensive coordinator and then head coach.
Off the field, Thomas has remained active in his community and professional pursuits, returning to the sport he loves with a proven track record of program building, leadership, and player development.
